The cars used are genuine Renault R26 Formula 1 cars from the 2006 Formula 1 World Championship. These cars make the exercise highly realistic and add a more exciting element. Several historic Formula 1 cars are soon to join the Streets Ahead stable. So whether it’s a car previously driven by Fernando Alonso or other former World Champions, we are able to deliver.
At Formula 1 races, today’s racing cars with fuel and driver, have to weigh in at a minimum of 605kgs. Power to weight ratios mean that these cars are capable of accelerating from a standstill to 100mph and braking to a complete stop in around 6 seconds. The engines currently produce 750 BHP and the cars achieve top speeds in excess of 210 mph.
The driver, protected in his carbon fibre chassis, literally has the control of his £1.3 million pound racing car at his finger tips. Clutch, gear change, radio communications and even a button activating a drinks flow to assist him, (in a race when he can lose up to 2.5kgs in body fluids) is available to him through a hi-tech steering wheel costing over £15,000.
The Pit Stop Challenge Formula 1 cars have been specifically modified and have had engine, fuel tank, batteries and oil removed to enable the cars to comply fully with health and safety regulations at both external and internal venues. Full HSE paperwork and terms and conditions are available upon request.
All Streets Ahead operatives are able to describe to delegates the construction and workings of a current day Formula 1 car, adding further to their enjoyment of the day.
